In 1934, Harry McCoy founded McCoy Machinery Supply Co. Ltd. located in the City of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, where general machining and pattern making was conducted. In 1945, McCoy and his son Archie, purchased Kerr & Coombes Foundry which had operated continuously for more than 100 years. In the early years, gray iron was poured into molds of bank sands, drawn from nearby fields, and reworked with water each day, by hand shovel. The evolution of silica sands and binders replaced bank sand molding in the mid 1950s. This process allowed McCoy Foundry to expand in production size and quality. In 2006, East Jordan Iron Works, Inc. (EJIW), acquired the municipal casting business of McCoy Foundry and subsequently formed a new company, McCoy Construction Castings, to continue to grow the construction castings business. McCoy Construction Castings has a new sales and distribution center located near Toronto, in St. George, Ontario.
